My image won the peoples heart at 2015 Canadian Armed Forces photography contest

PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD  & 2nd Place - Environment Category (Advance Classification): "The Force of Nature"

In 2015, my image The Force of Nature was recognized at the Canadian Armed Forces Photography Contest, earning the People’s Choice Award—marking my fifth consecutive year receiving this distinction. The same photograph also secured 2nd Place in the Advanced Environment Category, further affirming its impact.

I had the honour of receiving these awards alongside other top photographers from Vice Chief Defence of Staff, LtGen Guy Thibault at the Canadian War Museum on November 25, 2015—a moment that remains deeply meaningful in my journey.

The Force of Nature was captured months earlier on the black sand shores of Reynisfjara Beach, roughly 110 miles from Reykjavik. The conditions were harsh—wind, rain, and crashing waves—but within that chaos, I found clarity. Choosing to render the scene in monochrome, I sought to reveal the raw dialogue between sea and sky, where motion, texture, and light converge into something almost elemental.

The dramatic basalt formations nearby, rising like a natural cathedral from the earth, added to the sense of scale and power—reminding me that nature, at its most unforgiving, is often at its most beautiful.

That same year, another of my works, Iceland, was awarded 1st Place in the Advanced Environment Category—further capturing the spirit of a land shaped by contrast, resilience, and awe.
