THE ARTIST

I serve in the Royal Canadian Navy—a life defined by structure, discipline, and duty. But beyond the uniform, I move through a different world—one shaped by light, silence, and fleeting moments waiting to be captured.

Based in Victoria on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, I am a self-taught photographer drawn to the quiet poetry of everyday life. The stillness of a landscape before sunrise. The unguarded expression of a stranger. The intricate beauty of nature often overlooked. These are the moments I chase.

Photography, for me, is not simply about taking pictures—it is about seeing. It is about pausing time, distilling emotion, and revealing stories that might otherwise pass unnoticed. Every frame is an act of presence. Every shutter click, a decision to remember.

I don’t just photograph what is in front of me—I photograph what it feels like to be there.

In 2014, one of those moments—Portrait of a Fly—earned 1st place in the Flora & Fauna category at National Geographic Canada, selected from over 6,000 entries. A small subject, seen differently, became something extraordinary.

Over the years, my work has also been recognized within the Canadian Armed Forces, where I was honoured with multiple awards, including Photographer of the Year and People’s Choice distinctions. These milestones matter—but what matters more is the journey behind them.

Because in the end, photography is not about awards or equipment.

It is about vision.

It is about feeling.

It is about telling a story—without ever saying a word.

Every day is a learning curve for me, and I constantly challenge myself by improving my skills to achieve a beautiful picture.

I use  Nikon's professional camera body and high-quality lenses for all my photographic works.
